| Bread & Butter Pickles 2
5 quarts of small cucumbers 6 large onions 2 green peppers 1/3 cup of salt ice 4 1/2 cups of sugar 1 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric 1/2 teaspoon of whole cloves 1 1/2 teaspoon of celery seed 3 cups of vinegar
Slice cucumbers, onions and green peppers paper thin. Mix salt and ice through vegetables and let stand 3 hours. Drain well. Mix remaining ingredients and add to well drained vegetables. Bring to a boil, but do not boil. Pour into hot jars and seal. Makes 7 pints |
