| Hot Stovetop Oatmeal
1/2 cup of rolled oats 1/8 - 1/4 teaspoon of salt 2 teaspoons of strawberry preserves or more if you like 2 tablespoons of chopped walnuts or almonds
Extras Sliced bananas Fresh of frozen berries Raisins, dates, currants a dash of cinnamon, nutmeg, or cardamom warm apple slices chopped walnuts or almonds
In a small pot with a tight fitting lid, bring the oats, water and salt to a boil. Lower the heat to medium low and continue to cook, stirring about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in the preserves. Cover and let sit for 2 to 3 minutes. Serve the oatmeal sprinkled with nuts, along with any of the optional items listed. If you desire, top with a splash of soy or dairy milk. Makes one serving |
